IDPs repatriation to begin soon: Mahtab

PESHAWAR: Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency to native areas would resume soon.
Talking to a delegation of tribal elders from Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Wednesday, he said the government wanted socio-economic uplift of the tribal region. Therefore, he added, the government would start sending IDPs back next month.
He urged tribespeople and elders to be conscious of their responsibilities and play an active role in the restoration of peace. The delegation comprising Abdul Latif Afridi, Senator Haji Khan Afridi, Malik Daud Khan, Malik Dauran Gul, Haji Mughal Baz, Suhbat Khan, Abdul Wahid and others apprised the governor of the problems and difficulties being faced by the people of Bara.
The governor assured the delegation of taking necessary action to address their grievances and said that every possible step would be taken to ensure early and dignified return of Bara IDPs to their homes. The delegation assured the governor of complete cooperation with the government and local administration to ensure peace and security in Khyber Agency.
Responding to the demands put forward by the members of delegation from Bara, the governor said he had already taken initiatives and launched some projects during his recent visit.
