Monitoring of subsidised flour supply ordered

Punjab Minister for Planning and Development Malik Nadeem Kamran has directed for monitoring the process of providing subsidised wheat to flour mills, its grinding and supply of flour to market. 

He was chairing a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Ramazan Package at Civil Secretariat on Thursday.

He said subsidised flour in green bags should be available in sufficient quantity at shops throughout the province.

Malik Nadeem Kamran  said more than Rs 9 billion Ramazan Package has been given to provide relief to people during the holy month of Ramazan, adding special subsidy has been given on flour and sugar under this package.

He said no complaint should be received about unavailability or shortage of green bag flour from anywhere. 

Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed said staff of food department should be deputed at flour mills to ensure a ban on unsubsidised flour in white bags and availability of subsidised flour at every shop across the province.

Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed ordered for improving arrangements at Ramzan bazaars with a focus on provision of basic facilities and cleanliness in and around the bazaars.

The Food secretary told the meeting that supply of green bag flour has been increased manifolds, adding at present subsidised flour is available at 80 to 90 per cent shops in the province while the white bags are only present in a very less number.
