RAWALPINDI: The Customs Court on Tuesday issued arrest warrant for Ayyan Ali in the currency smuggling case over incessant absences and ordered the police to arrest and present the fashion model on June 21.

The court rejected her application for permanent exemption from presence in currency smuggling case.  The Customs Court judge said that Ayyan Ali did not appear in court after December 17, 2016. Ordering to submit application for one-day exemption from presence of the suspect, the judge said that her application of permanent exemption from presence in the court will be heard in her presence.

“Where is the accused who used to say that she would face the charges?” an angry judge asked. The judge said Ayyan was continuously violating court’s instructions. The court issued arrest warrant for Ayyan and instructed police to present the model on June 21.

It may be mentioned that Ayyan Ali is accused of smuggling foreign currency out of the country. Ayyan remained in custody after she was arrested in money laundering scandal from Islamabad Airport. She was released on bail and her name was also excluded from Exit Control List (ECL). On February 23, Ayyan Ali left for Dubai in a foreign airlines flight.
