CADD to examine reservations about new PEIRA rules today
Islamabad
The Capital Administration and Development Division will examine today (Tuesday) the reservations about the proposed amendments to the rules governing the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA).
This was decided during a meeting between CADD additional secretary Dr Jamal Yousaf and a delegation led by Private Schools Network president Dr Afzal Babur here on Monday. Dr Jamal is part of a six-member committee tasked with examining the proposed changes to the PEIRA (Registration and Fee Determination) Rules, 2016.
Headed by the CADD secretary, the committee has members the CADD additional secretary, a BPS-20 official of the law and justice division, a BPS-20 official of the Capital Development Authority, and the PEIRA’s chairman and member (academics).
Dr Afzal has already opposed these rules saying they went against the cause of education. Calling for their immediate withdrawal, he said the low-cost private schools would neither register themselves with the PEIRA under new rules nor would they renew their registrations. Dr Afzal also demanded the representation of the ICT’s low-cost schools in the committee.
