Heatwave to subside today
Islamabad
If the Pakistan Meteorological Department's latest forecast is to be believed, the current heat wave, which has taken the maximum temperatures in the country’s plains to over 50 degree Celsius, will subside today (Tuesday) for few days due to a wet spell.
According to Irfan Virk, deputy director at the PMD National Weather Forecasting Centre, Islamabad, under the influence of a new weather system, rainfall is expected in some upper and central parts of the country in the current week.
“There is a likelihood of rains falling with thunders, gusty winds and dust storm at scattered places of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Tuesday (June 6) to Friday with breaks,” he said.
The weatherman said thundershowers were also expected at isolated places of Quetta, Zhob, DG Khan, Multan and Sahiwal divisions on Wednesday and Thursday.
He said hailstorm could also occur in sub-mountainous areas of Punjab, KP and AJK during the period.
Irfan Virk said the current heat wave conditions would subside all over the country due to the rainy spell.
