Islamabad

The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif led government is completing its four years in office today (Monday).

Nawaz Sharif who has become popular prime minister of the country for third occasion, for the first time has reached the fourth anniversary of his government despite political turbulence created by his adversaries to destabilise his administration.

The government sources maintained that despite chaos created by major group of the opposition, Nawaz Sharif government has rendered service to the nation and fulfilled the commitments that he made in his manifesto prior to 2013 polls. The government checked the menace of terrorism in effective manner and it paved the way for smooth transaction of business activities across the country. The control over the power loadshedding and installation of power producing units in various parts of the country that would ensure cessation of power outage completely by the end of the year is yet another achievement of the government.

The sources said that economy had been improved and it was acknowledged by the world bodies. The inflation has been checked and the dearness has been overcome. The stock exchanges are showing remarkable results and foreign reserves are touching $23 billion mark that is also new record in the economic history of Pakistan.

The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project of $62 billion is in the process of completion as it has been described as fate changer for the country. The project was inked by Prime Minister Nawaz and started by his government. The law and order in Karachi has also been brought under control by the incumbent government.

The ties with India remained tense most of the time during the four years despite Indian Prime Minister Modi dashed to Lahore without schedule in late 2015. The sources said that the government was working out a paper where the performance and achievements of the government would be highlighted while the plans for the last year of the government would also be inserted in the document.

The PTI sit-in that continued in Islamabad for more than four months and hampered the business in the federal capital was among the worst events during the four years beside the massacre of innocent students in APS Peshawar where more than 140 school children were martyred by terrorist in demonstration of worst order brutality. The government has planned to observe the anniversary without fanfare but thanks giving prayers would be offered for which Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has already asked to offer, the sources said.
