It is rare to see an organisation giving out gifts to its customers, but KE came forward and presented a unique gift to its customers – the electricity breakdown. The first Sehri of Karachi was observed without power. The breakdown happened when an extra high-tension line tripped, shutting down several power plants at Hubco and Jamshoro. The whole city was drowned in darkness. People had to prepare their meals in darkness. The rest of the day wasn’t any better. Later, just a few minutes before Iftar, the power went out – thank you KE for the gift.
Temperature in Karachi is reaching 40 degrees Celsius and above. Fasting in hot summer and without power has taken a toll on the people’s lives. People who do not have generators or UPS in their homes faced serious problems. The negative effects of unannounced loadshedding can also be seen in the country’s economy. Many industries and small-scale businesses have been shut down because of unavailability of uninterrupted loadshedding. The government must resolve this issue and make sure that residents do not have to face such problem at least during Sehri and Iftar.
