KARACHI: Pakistan’s former captain Waqar Younis lectured Pakistan’s junior hockey players who are in Australia participating in league hockey championships in various states, ‘The News’ has learnt.
Pakistan junior hockey team went to Australia earlier this month to participate in their national junior championship. It won the championship after which various Australian state teams offered Pakistani players to represent them in their league hockey.
PHF has organised such lectures for the players to keep them disciplined and make them aware of Australia’s culture.
The players would remain in Australia for three to four months, so it was needed to make them aware of what is expected of them in Australia, a PHF official said.
He said that Waqar is the ideal man for this purpose as he himself lives in Australia. PHF is also trying to arrange a lecture by former great fast bowler Waseem Akram.
