Trump’s speech

During his speech at the Arab-Islamic-American summit in Riyadh, Donald Trump sympathised with the countries which bore the brunt of terrorism. Ironically, he included India in that list, a country which is responsible for state-sponsored militancy in Indian-held Kashmir. One wonders on what grounds did Trump refer India as the victim of terrorism. A few weeks ago, India isolated the occupied valley from the rest of the world by putting a ban on social media. Because of Indian security forces’ unprovoked firing, the people living along the LoC suffer a lot on a daily basis and many families have left their homes and migrated to other safer places. India, along with Afghanistan, is also trying its best to destabilise Pakistan. The confessions made by Kulbhushan Jadhav, an Indian RAW agent, and Ehsanullah Ehsan, a former TTP and Jamat-ul-Ahrar spokesman, are enough to establish the fact that India is involved in hostile activities against Pakistan. There is no denying the fact that India wants its hegemony in the region and to realise its dream it can go to any limit.

Donald Trump completely ignored Pakistan which was the front-line ally of the US in the so-called war on terror. It was Pakistan which became the victim of terrorists’ backlash and suffered colossal damage. Reportedly, Pakistan sacrificed about 100,000 innocent lives at the altar of terrorism. According to the SBP, Pakistan spent a huge sum of $123billion to tackle terrorism. All these facts, figures and calculations show that it is Pakistan and not India which is the victim of terrorists. Only through aggressive diplomacy Pakistan can show the world how much terrorism and extremism have affected the country.
