Four-wall glass court moved to Peshawar

KARACHI: Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) has moved the mobile, all-weather, four-wall glass squash court it purchased from ASB to Peshawar.
“The court released it from the Karachi Port after we followed the procedures,” said Secretary PSF Amir Nawaz. “It reached Pakistan on December 10. Now we have shifted it to our base camp from where it will be transported to Peshawar,” he said.
He added that it was suggested to place this court in Punjab but they decided against it. “We have our own piece of land in Peshawar where we could develop the whole complex later. So the better place for this court was Peshawar,” added Amir.
He said that the portable court was donated by ASB for the Asian Beach Games held in Thailand last month. PSF purchased it for around Rs12 million. This will be the second four-wall glass court in the country.
He said that the Managing Director ASB was invited by PSF in CAS International event held in Islamabad in October last year where they finalised the deal.
It costs more than Rs40 million — installation charges included — but PSF got it at a much lower price.
President PSF Tahir Rafique Butt has given PSF the initial amount of Rs0.4 million in this regard. PSF is paying to ASB in installments owing to its poor financial position.
Amir said that with the addition of this new court, Pakistani players would have the facility of playing doubles events for the first time in the country.
