Punjab Commission on the Status of Women launched transitional home for female victims of violence, at Dar-ul-Falah, Social Welfare Complex, Township, Friday.
This pilot project is the result of a partnership between Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) and Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Department.
In her welcome address, PCSW chairperson, Fauzia Viqar stated that economic growth and development cannot be attained without active participation of women.
She elaborated that the aim of the transitional home was to enable survivors of violence to be self-sufficient and facilitate their reintegration into society, through provision of skill development training.
Such training will be provided by government technical and vocational skills development institutions and by non-government partners.
