If the Pakistan Meteorological Department's forecast is to be believed, there is a high unlikelihood of Ramazan moon being sighted today (Friday).

Assisted by the PMD, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, and Pakistan Navy, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, the country's main moon-sighting body, will meet at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Islamabad to decide about the sighting of the moon of Ramazan 1438AH or otherwise.

The meetings of zonal and district Ruet-i-Hilal committees will take place at the same time at their respective headquarters.

"According to the astronomical parameters, there is a slight chance of the sighting of the new moon of Ramazan, 1438AH, on the evening of May 26, 2017, i.e. on 29th of Shaban, 1438AH," said Abdul Rashid, director at the PMD Climate Data Processing Centre.

The weatherman said according to climate records, the weather was expected to be fair and partly cloudy in most parts of the country on Friday.

He said the new moon of Ramazan, 1438AH, would be born on the crossing conjunction point at 0045 PST on May 26.
