Need to adopt new audit techniques stressed

Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir has said that auditors can ensure transparency in institutions if they play their due role as they stop others from wrongdoings. 

He was addressing a workshop on issues of local fund audit organised by Divisional Directorate Local Fund Audit Department, Lahore, on Thursday. Divisional Director Amir Mufti, PU Resident Auditor Chaudhry Zaffar Iqbal, former Resident Auditor Naeem Iqbal Qureshi, resource person Jamil Bhatti and a large number of auditors from various departments were also present.

The VC said auditors must be respected. He said there was a need to adopt new techniques of audit. Amir Mufti said the purpose of the training workshop was to share experiences with each other and equip auditors with modern techniques to improve financial matters of the institutions. 

Meanwhile, Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir while addressing a prize distribution ceremony of the 121st annual sports event at Sherani Hall of PU Oriental College said the Oriental College was playing its role in promotion of literature in the country. 

Faculty of Oriental Learning Dean Prof Dr Fakhrul Haq Noori, heads of various departments and a large number of students were also present on the occasion. For the first time in the history of the college, cash prizes were distributed among the winning players and teams. 

Amanat Ali and Aaliya Shaheen were declared the best athletes of the event while Department of Kashmiriyat clinched team trophy.
