ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPPP) Parliamentarians on Tuesday submitted the calling attention notice in the NA Secretariat of repeated instances of seizure of large consignments of heroin from PIA’s aircraft during a week.

The PPP Parliamentarians  submitted the calling attention notice in the NA Secretariat drawing attention of the Minister of Aviation towards repeated instances of seizure of large consignments of heroin from PIA’s aircraft during a week.

Through their calling attention notice, the PPP Parliamentarians stated that repeated instances of seizure of large consignments of heroin from PIA’s aircraft during a week are a matter of grave concern for public and it is highly regretful that the heroin was again successfully transported in the aircraft despite of a similar incident reported days ago which raises serious questions about the ability and competence of huge security apparatus deployed at the domestic airports to ensure safety and security.

The calling attention notice stated that the incidence demands transparent and immediate probe into the matter to unearth those elements that are using the national carrier for drug smuggling and maligning the name of PIA and Pakistan.

Meanwhile PTI’s senior leader Ms Andleeb Abbas has written to the Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for provision of information regarding recovery of heroin twice in a week from PIA planes and appointment of cronies in the department.

Ms. Abbas wrote in the letter that she might be provided certified information under the Freedom of Information Ordinance, 2002 and Article 19-A of the Constitution, regarding corruption, nepotism and heroin smuggling in PIA. “The shocking and shameful news of PIA planes being caught with heroin twice in a week on London-bound flights has served another blow to the image of the national flag carrier.
