Pakistan Poetry Festival held in Bahrain

BAHRAIN: Pakistan Poetry Festival and ‘Mushaira’ was held under the patronage of Pakistan embassy in Bahrain in association with Anjuman-e-Farogh-e-Adab Bahrain, as part of ambassador Javed Malik’s efforts to highlight the positive aspects of Pakistani art, culture and literature. 

Prominent poets from Pakistan and the Gulf countries participated in the festival held at a prestigious hotel in the Kingdom of Bahrain which was attended by over 400 people from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. 

On the occasion, ambassador Javed Malik presented a “Lifetime Achievement Award” to distinguished Pakistani writer, poet and intellectual, Amjad Islam Amjad, who presided the ‘Mushaira’ and recited some of his latest poems. 

On the occasion Pakistani envoy said “Pakistani literature and poetry provide an excellent medium to highlight our message of peace, love and brotherhood at the international level and therefore we are encouraging such events that showcase the richness of our culture through poetry and literature. 

He said poets and writers like Amjad Islam Amjad are an asset and we feel honoured to present him a “Lifetime Achievement Award” to show our appreciation to the wonderful contributions he has made to literature and poetry. Amjad Islam Amjad thanked the ambassador for the award and appreciated the good work being done by the Pakistani embassy in Bahrain by not only addressing the issues of the community but also promoting a positive image of the country through such initiatives.
