Sartaj Aziz says ICJ has not ordered consular access for Indian spy; Kulbhushan’s sentence can’t be revoked; Ayaz Sadiq says govt, Army to
jointly fight Kulbhushan case
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday that the government will make sure that Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav meets his fate.
Addressing the passing-out parade ceremony of 800 recruits of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) at Warsak, the minister said had Kulbhushan not been arrested on time, he might have spread more destruction in Pakistan. He said that terrorists, who are being paid by anti-Islam elements, kill innocent people in the name of religion. He said such elements are the enemies of Islam and humanity and would be dealt with iron hands.
Chaudhry Nisar said there is no doubt that the whole nation is united on national security issues and advised some misguided elements to avoid making this issue controversial. He pointed out that it was India, not Pakistan, which had approached the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and added that Pakistan the government would deal Kulbhushan case according to its law of the land.
"Allah Almighty dislikes spreading 'Fasaad' on earth and terms killing of one human being as killing of the whole mankind," he said.
Chaudhry Nisar said FC troops, who sacrificed their lives for protection of the motherland, were in fact the real heroes and the whole nation did recognise their sacrifices with high esteem. The minister asked recruits that it is the initial phase of their career, so they will be doing a lot to defeat terrorism. He said the Pakistan government would take necessary steps for the betterment of the security forces, adding that in last three years, on directives of the prime minster, about Rs80 billion had been spent on civil armed forces. He said 29 new wings would be established in coming two to three months.
To a question, the minister said Pakistan has close relations with Afghans and wants peace and stability in Afghanistan as it is in its own interests. However, he said, if Afghanistan would toe Indian line then it would not be tolerated. He suggested that Afghanistan, instead of levelling allegations, should look after its own internal affairs for stability in the region. About Pakistan-Iran ties, he said both countries are tied in Islamic brotherhood and will address problems with mutual understandings. For this purpose, he said, he would visit Iran after Ramazan to resolve specific bilateral issues.
He said Iranian foreign minister during his meeting with Pakistani leadership agreed for not allowing any movement against both countries.
Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said the ICJ has not asked Pakistan to give consular access to Kulbhushan and his sentence cannot be revoked.
Talking to editors and senior anchors at the Foreign Office, Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan has decided to dispatch yet another dossier to the United Nations and its secretary general pertaining to unimpeachable evidence of heinous offences committed by Kulbhushan.
Pakistan has already sent two different dossiers to the UN and important world capitals. The adviser said New Delhi wouldn’t succeed in its nefarious designs to hide subversive activities of its spy Kulbhushan Yadav.
He said Pakistan had strong position regarding merit over the case of Kulbhushan. He made it clear that the ICJ couldn’t abolish the death sentence. “Kulbhushan had confessed to carrying out terrorist activities inside Pakistan and was a naval officer using a fake passport. He was sentenced according to the country’s law,” he said. Sartaj said Kulbhushan was convicted as per law and Constitution of Pakistan and the government’s stance against the Indian spy is based on truth.
Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and spokesman for the Foreign Office Nafis Zakaria were also present on the occasion.
Sartaj said India’s stance that Pakistan was defeated by the ICJ verdict was inaccurate. “A wrong impression was created by Indian media that Pakistan has lost the case,” he said. The adviser made it emphatically clear that the visit of Indian tycoon Jindal to Pakistan was a private visit and it had nothing to do with the case.
The adviser said Pakistan wanted amicable resolution of Kashmir issue in line with United Nations resolutions. “Pakistan will continue its political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people in their just struggle for right to self-determination,” he said.
APP adds from Lahore: The National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that the government and Pakistan Army will jointly fight Kulbhushan case in the ICJ.
Talking to the media in his constituency here, he said politics should not be done on the issue of a terrorist. “It is time to be united,” he added.
Ayaz Sadiq said legal points should be discussed but there should be no politics on Kulbhushan issue.
“Pakistan will not take any dictation on the issue and it would do whatever would be in its interest,” he added.
