FIA arrest two human traffickers

GUJRANWALA: The FIA teams Friday arrested two human traffickers and a Gepco meter reader from different areas. Reportedly, Accused Akhtar Ali and Shahzad were involved in human trafficking, while the meter reader was arrested on charges of receiving Rs 45,000 bribe from a citizen. The accused were arrested from Narowal, Gujrat and Kamoke areas.

 

Deans for three depts of Hazara varsity appointed

MANSEHRA: KP Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has appointed deans for three departments of Hazara University (HU). A press release said the governor, who is also the chancellor of the university, had appointed Dr Manzoor Hussain Shah as Dean for Faculty of Arts; Dr Mukhtar Hussain as Dean for Faculty of Health Sciences and Dr Manzoor Hussain as Dean for General Sciences.

Suspect killed during crossfire with Rangers

DERA GHAZI KHAN: A suspect was killed during crossfire with the Rangers near Basti Dallana on Friday. Reportedly, the Rangers personnel were conducting a search operation when two suspects allegedly opened fire at them, which was retaliated. As a result, one suspect, later identified as Mureed Bughlani, was killed on the spot while the second suspect fled. The Rangers also recovered a weapon from the killed suspect. The Rangers personnel were conducting the search operation for the arrest of the second suspect till the filing of this report.

 

Rains over the weekend in upper parts of country: Met

Islamabad: If you plan outdoor recreation this weekend, you may rest assured that the weather will be relatively pleasant in these otherwise hot and dry days. The reason is that there is a good chance of rain falling in Islamabad and adjoining areas today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday). According to an official of the Met Office, a fresh shallow westerly wave is likely to enter upper and central parts of the country on Saturday evening or night to last for the next 48 hours. “During the next 48 hours, rains coupled with thunderstorm are expected to occur at isolated places in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan, D.G Khan and Sahiwal divisions, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir," weatherman Muhammad Farooq told reporters here. He however said hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country.
