Nurses contribute a lot to the country’s healthcare system. They work tirelessly and ensure the recovery of patients. They are the unsung heroes who care unconditionally for the sick and the injured. International Nurses Day was observed on Friday (May 12) to acknowledge their hard work, long working hours and the emotional pressure they go through.
This day was first proposed by Dorothy Sutherland, an official with the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare. It is celebrated on May 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
