This refers to the news report, ‘Sale of carbonated, energy drinks banned in schools’ (May 12). The Punjab Food Authority has taken a right decision to save the future generations from adverse effects of soft beverages, which is already banned in a lot of schools across the world.
Many fast food chains offer complimentary drinks with burgers and pizzas. They should also offer healthy alternatives like juices and flavoured milk. The government has to ensure that the policy made to prevent the sale of carbonated drinks and junk food in schools is implemented in letter and spirit.
