Says JIT to unearth more properties
ABBOTTABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on the PanamaLeaks would unearth more properties abroad as it had unveiled the London flats so far.
He said that the issue of corruption was getting complicated with each passing day and it had become a major hurdle in the way of foreign investment and deprived the people of their rights.
Addressing a public meeting at the Government Postgraduate College here on Sunday, the PTI chief said it was corruption that deprived the youth of education and employment opportunities.
Awami Muslim League head Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jehangir Tareen were also present on the occasion. Imran Khan said that the people had the power to prevent the rulers from committing corruption.
He alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government had stolen the public money amounting to Rs62 billion and it was involved in money laundering. The PTI chief accused Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President Saeed Ahmed of helping Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in money laundering.
The PTI leader alleged that the rulers had stashed the looted money in offshore bank accounts. Imran Khan added that Pakistan couldn't become a developed country unless corrupt people were taken to task.
He said that corruption and looting the national resources had increased the country's debt, which was being recovered from the general public by imposing additional taxes and increasing the price of petroleum products.
The PTI chief alleged that the son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif purchased property abroad in the name of his children and he lived in a house in London that was worth more than six billion rupees.
