State of human rights

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan issued its annual report on Wednesday (May 10). The report highlights the increasing human rights violation across the country. Pakistan has been witnessing the rise in sexual harassment, honour killings, rape and abduction for a long time. In addition, killing people over unproven allegations of blasphemy has also become quite common in the country. This religiously motivated vigilantism is gaining momentum at an alarming rate.
Pakistan is a country where terrorism, in different forms, has killed a large number of civilians. Tackling the shortcomings highlighted in the report should be the government’s top priority.
