Siraj presents 10-point electoral reforms formula
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Sirajul Haq while expressing dissatisfaction over the existing electoral system has presented 10-point electoral reforms formula.
The formula stresses that process for casting votes by women during polls be ensured besides giving right to vote to overseas Pakistanis. Addressing a press conference here in Mansoora JI Amir Sirajul Haq said that people were losing their trust on the present electoral system day by day. This is a tragedy as the trust deficit on the part of electorates will lead to whip up terrorism, depression and anarchy in the society, he added.
He regretted that certain political parties, particularly parliamentary political parties, were wooing electoral horses in their stable as per old procedure. “JI will take the parliamentary political parties and other political parties into confidence ahead of upcoming polls on the electoral reforms formula and persuade their chiefs to accept it so that people confidence on electoral system could be restored,” he remarked.
