Funds required to compensate LEW affectees, governor told
The Sindh governor was informed on Wednesday that funds were required to pay Rs50,000 as compensation to each of the households displaced during the ongoing construction of the 200-metre north-bound track of the Lyari Expressway.
Mohammad Zubair was being briefed by the deputy commissioner district West, Asif Jameel, while presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the track and the K-IV water scheme.
The DC told the governor that demolition of houses along the 200-metre area would conclude by the end of this month.
The governor assured that the federal government would be asked to arrange for funds at the earliest so that payments could be made to households who had had to shift to other places to pave way for the construction.
He urged the officials concerned to adhere to the deadline of August, 2017 for completion of the track. The governor was informed that completion of the expressway would provide an alternate, modern, dedicated and speedy vehicular passage to Karachi’s citizens.
K-IV scheme
Brigadier Waseem of the Frontier Works Organisation informed the Sindh governor that first phase of the K-IV water supply project was likely to be completed by June next year. So far 18 per cent of work has been completed on the first phase and it is expected to be completed by the end of financial year 2017-18.
