Man stabbed to death by brother over money

A man was fatally stabbed by his brother over a monetary dispute in Wanghi Goth, Manghopir on Sunday.

Manghopir SHO Haji Sanaullah identified the victim as Waziristan native Zafarullah Mehsud, 30, son of Mian Wali Mehsud, and said he was stabbed his brother, Hizbullah Mehsud, over failing to recover a loaned out amount. 

Following the fatal attack, the accused, Hizbullah, managed to escape from the house. 

The SHO said Zafarullah was a teacher at a school situated in the neighbourhood, while Hizbullah worked as a rickshaw driver.

“The two also have a general store in Wanghi Goth which they used to run in shifts,” SHO said, adding, “Zafarullah had apparently allowed an area resident to buy groceries on credit and was having trouble recovering the amount.”

“On Sunday, the brothers quarreled over the money again.

The situation escalated and culminated in an incensed Hizbullah stabbing his brother multiple times.” 

The officer added that Hizbullah had mental health issues in the past and had recently been admitted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre’s (JPMC) Psychiatry Ward for treatment.

While the family was handed over the body for burial, no case was registered by the time this report was filed. 

 

Ill woman ends life 

A 40-year-old woman who was suffering from a prolonged illness ended her life at her Patel Para residence on Sunday. 

Soldier Bazaar SHO Arz Muhammad said the victim, Sidra, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at around 11:00am.

The officer said the death was called in by her husband. 

In his statement to the police, her husband has said that Sidra was in a state of desperation owing to her protracted illness, and had voiced her intent to end her life several times.

The police handed over the body to the family for burial. 

 

Drug addict electrocuted

A man who police say was a drug addict was electrocuted while trying to steal electric wires in Christian Colony, Saddar.

Saddar police’s acting SHO Malik Hayat said Tariq Aziz, 35, son of Massan Khan, was an avid narcotics user and was trying to steal electric wires that could be sold to purchase drugs. 

The victim suffered a powerful shock in the process and died at the spot. Police officials handed over the body to the family for burial.
