UHS board considers thesis reports

LAHORE

The 125th meeting of Advanced Studies and Research Board of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) was held here on Thursday with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Junaid Sarfraz Khan in the chair.

The board considered the thesis reports of Dr Maryam Shujaat, PhD (Pharmacology), Dr Nabila Rauf, MPhil (Chemical Pathology), Dr Maria Ilyas, MPhil  (Oral Pathology), Dr Sheikh Maria Qammar, MPhil (Pharmacology), Dr Tooba Malik, MPhil (Pharmacology), Dr Rai M Hammad Arif, MD (Paediatrics), Dr Hina Mumtaz, MS (Aneasthesia), Dr Arif Mahmood Shahid, MS (Orthopaedics), Dr Saera Tufail, MPhil (Microbiology) and Dr Muhammad Akram Shaikh, MS (Psychiatry).

The following synopses were also considered for registration of students in various postgraduate courses:

“Nephroprotective effects of flax seeds (Linum usitatissimum l.) on triazophos-induced nephrotoxicity in male Wistar rats” by Dr Lubna Shahper, MPhil (Anatomy), “Comparison of salivary interleukin- 1 and matrix metalloproteinase-8 levels in individuals with chronic periodontitis before and after treatment with kalonji oil” by Dr Ghazala Hassan, MPhil (Oral Biology), “Bone regeneration in a critical size defect using bioactive glass fiber scaffold in a rat model” by Dr Maria Khan, MPhil (Oral Biology), “Comparative determination of integrity of DNA in experimental tissues fixed in formalin, universal molecular fixative and honey” by Nida Ali Ahmad, MPhil (MLS-Histotechnology), “Identification of mutations in tyrosinase (TYR) gene associated with congenital oculocutaneous albinism and an in silico analysis of these mutations” by Saira Munir and others.
