Tanzara reopens today with a group show at Saidpur

Tanzara Gallery, one of the capital’s most renowned galleries, is all set to reopen with a group exhibition in celebration of the gallery’s 10th anniversary! Taking place at its new premises in the beautiful Saidpur village, this group show reflects on Tanzara’s 10 years in the art world.

The group exhibition, titled ‘Diverse Visions,’ includes works by 30 senior as well as emerging artists the gallery has represented since 2007, alongside artists new to the gallery’s roster, and those whose­ work reflects the gallery’s sensibility. The mayor of Islamabad and chairman of the Capital Development Authority Shaikh Ansar Aziz will inaugurate the gallery.

On April 7, 2007, Tanzara Gallery opened its doors to the residents of Islamabad with a show of senior artist Raja Changez Sultan. From the outset, the gallery featured the work of emerging as well as established artists working in painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper, and video, and emphasized on works that were unique to the artist.

The gallery quickly gained critical acclaim for its outstanding roster of contemporary artists, and continued to grow. “This exhibition is a celebration of the gallery’s 10 years; it provides a chance to showcase artists who have influenced the gallery’s trajectory. Taken together, the works reflect the gallery’s mission-driven programme and aesthetic sensibility,” the gallery’s director Noshi Qadir maintained.

Artists whose works will be on display are: Amin Gulgee, Atif Khan, Abdul Jabbar Gul, Abrar Ahmad, Ahmad Khan, Ali Azmat, Aqeel Solongi, Akram Dost, A Q Arif, Farrukh Shahab, Ghulam Rasul, Jamal Ahmad, Jamil Naqsh, Mansoora Hasan, Mashkoor Raza, Mughees Riaz, Mohsen Kianey, Shehzad Zar, Nazia Ejaz, Iqbal Hussian, Sana Arjumand, Shammi Ahmad, Saqiba Suleman, Raja Changez Sultan, Raja Najam ul Hassan, R M Naeem, Ubaid Sayed, Wahab Jaffer, Zahid ul Haq, and Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi.  The exhibition will continue till May 16 from 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
