Man, three sons die as truck hits rickshaw

LAHORE

A man and his three sons were killed and two women injured when a speeding truck hit a rickshaw in the Shadbagh area on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Mitho and his three sons, Farman, 8, Rehan, 6 and Tauseef, 3. The injured women were admitted to hospital where the condition of Mitho’s wife was stated to be precarious. The ill-fatted family members were on their way back after attending a function at Manawan when a rashly-driven truck dashed into their rickshaw on Amir Road, Shadbagh. As a result, all the six people suffered critical injuries. They were removed to hospital where Mitho and his three sons were pronounced dead. Police have arrested the truck driver, identified as Kashif of Sheikhupura.

suicide: A 30-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope in the Nishtar Colony area on Sunday. The deceased woman was identified as Rabia of Kamaha Road, Nishtar Colony. Police said that the woman was depressed over domestic issues. On the day of the incident, she locked herself up in a room and hanged herself to death. Police have handed over the body to his family.

Three held: Harbanspura police arrested three persons and seized kites and kite string from their possession. The arrested accused were identified as Abu Bakar, Kamran and Ahmad.

arrested: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested four criminals and registered 172 cases on different traffic violations. PHP teams arrested three proclaimed offenders (POs) and a robber and recovered a bike from their possession. PHP teams registered 172 cases on various traffic violations. 

rewarded: The chief traffic officer (CTO) gave away cash prizes and commendatory certificates to two wardens for reuniting a boy with his parents.  The two wardens, Asif and Adnan, spotted a four-year-old boy, identified as Rizwan of Chaudhry Colony, crying on a road near LOS. They traced his house and handed him over to his parents. 

workshop: The Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 director general formally concluded the first phase of three-day Multi-Sector Preparedness Training Workshop at Managers Training Centre in Emergency Services Academy on Sunday. The workshop was organised by Rescue 1122 in collaboration with International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and United Nation’s Office of Coordination on Humanitarian Affairs to improve the capacity of emergency officers and non-government organisations at local level in all districts of Punjab.
