Sahi to resolve KAA election row
KARACHI: Syed Zahid Rizvi and Mohammad Aslam were on Sunday elected as president and secretary, respectively, of the Karachi Athletics Association for a term of four years.
Waseem Ahmed Khan was elected as treasurer.
The electoral meeting was held here at the PSB Coaching Centre. Last week a parallel body was created with Gohar Reza getting elected as its president.
The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) president Maj Gen (retd) Akram Sahi has taken a serious notice of the conflict in the athletics fraternity of the metropolis.
He told ‘The News’ on Sunday that he planned to come down to Karachi and resolve the differences. “I plan to come to Karachi and will resolve the issue under the constitution,” Sahi told this correspondent.
The differences between the two groups were quite visible during the National Athletics Championship held here last month.
Sindh Athletics Association (SAA) termed the election of Gohar Raza as illegal in a statement it issued the other day.
