The traders of Islamabad have pledged to continue their ongoing protest plan till the time CDA headed by Mayor Ansar Aziz do not take action against owner of Farooqia Market at F=6/1 who according to them has violated the building laws.

In connection with their protest campaign launched a week ago, the traders headed by Ajmal Baloch, president of Traders Action Committee, Islamabad staged a protest demonstration even on Sunday against the violation of Farooqia Market owner.

Carrying placards and banners in their hands the traders demanded sealing of Farooqia Market forthwith as CDA is carrying out drive against encroachments.

Speaking to the demonstrators, Ajmal Baloch told that according to laws enshrined by CDA no one could change the design of building laws and the restaurants and shopping plazas of C category could not establish single business in their plazas. However, the owner of Farooqia Market have violated all the rules and regulations. The owner has not only changed the design of the building but has also closed the ‘verandahs’ in which big machines have been displayed.

He observed that as CDA is carrying anti-encroachment drive then why action is not being taken against owner of Farooqia Market for closing the ‘verandah’ of his plaza and placing big machines. He said placing of big machines on verandah of plaza is a big kind of encroachment. Demanding action against the Farooqia Market Ajmal Baloch demanded that the CDA should immediately take notice of violation of building laws and seal the plaza. Otherwise, Ajmal Baloch threatened that the traders would have no other option but to adopt strict strategy while continuing their protest campaign against Farooqia Market.
