Siraj warns of countrywide protests
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq has warned of countrywide protests in front of Wapda offices if power load-shedding and overbilling are not controlled.
Addressing a public meeting in Batkhela, Malakand, on Friday, he said the rulers had failed in solving peoples’ problems but were quite successful in protecting their personal interests. He said that after the Supreme Court verdict in the Panama case, questions were being raised about the prime minster who should resign. He said if the prime minister was found innocent after the fresh investigations, he could resume his office after two months.
The JI chief said corruption was the gift of the present rulers, but corruption and Pakistan could not go together. He said corruption had become a symbol of the ruling elite. There was a state of uncertainty in the country at present and the corrupt rulers had deprived people of peace. It was due to corruption that there was darkness all around and the rulers did not have any solution to peoples’ problems. The nation, he said, wanted accountability of all those who had properties in London, Dubai and other countries.
He said hundreds of Malakand residents were in jail in Saudi Arabia and the JI was making efforts for their release, but there was no support from the government. He said the JI would emerge as a strong political force in the next elections.
