Going green

By our correspondents
April 27, 2017

World Earth Day is observed on April 22 every year. It is aimed to increase awareness about the earth resources and its usefulness along with the depletion of these resources. Currently it is marked in 192 countries around the world with festivities, rallies and parades to show support for climate change and protection of the environment. In this regard, the Green Pakistan Programme has been initiated by the federal government not only to protect biodiversity, but also to raise awareness among people how to be environment-friendly. This shows the government’s strong resolve for environmental protection and the conservation of natural resources.

In view of the above, it is the need of the hour to stop the misuse of natural resources and natural habitat. Also it is everyone’s duty to put efforts for preserving natural environment and stopping human intervention and unfriendly environmental practices. To counter the effects of climate change and to increase the tree cover, investments in forestry is also viable for ensuring sustainability and promoting green investments.
