Session for legislators on child rights
Parliamentary Youth Caucus in Punjab Assembly organised a briefing session for legislators on child rights situation in Punjab with a view to raising the legislative business in Punjab Assembly to draw the attention of key decision makers to take administrative, legislative and other measures to ensure protection to children from all forms of abuse and exploitation. The session was organised in collaboration with Search for Justice (CAN Pakistan) and Child Rights Movement, Punjab. Child rights activist Iftikhar Mubarik said the Punjab government must ensure harmonisation of laws with United Nations Convention on the Rights of Child ratified by Pakistan in 1990.

Khaliq Shah, an economist, said that the social protection budget shows ups and downs in the last four years. With Rs.2.2 billion in 2013-14, it was increased to Rs 4.5 billion and Rs.5.2 billion in 2014-15 and 2015-16. —Correspondent
