‘Peace rally’ in Charsadda varsity condemns Mashal’s killing
CHARSADDA: A ‘Peace rally’ was taken out at the Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, to condemn the brutal killing of Mashal Khan and express solidarity with the victim family on Monday.
The Students Society head Naveed Gigyani led the rally. Prof Arshad Saleem of the Pashto Department and spokesperson for the Bacha Khan University Saeed Khan Khalil also participated in the rally.
After passing through various routes in the university, the participants of the rally later gathered at the Yadgar-Shuhada and chanted slogans against the killing of Mashal Khan, a student of Abdul Wali Khan University, who was recently lynched by fellow students and university employees for alleged blasphemy.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Arshad Saleem, Jan Alam and Naveed Gigyani said that Mashal Khan had pinpointed flaws in the affairs of his university for which he was eliminated under a conspiracy.
“Mashal belonged to a Sadaat family and he could not even think of blasphemy,” a speaker said. The speakers blasted the prevalent faulty system in Bacha Khan University and said that extremism was also making inroads in the university due to incompetence and inefficiency of the administration.
Later, Naveed Gigyani also addressed a press conference and alleged that extremist elements were calling the shots at the behest of the university administration. He asked the federal and provincial governments to probe the matter or else they would launch a protest movement.
