OVERCOMING FIRE INCIDENTS IN MARGALLA HILLS
Islamabad
All check posts of environment wing of Capital Development Authority (CDA) in the Margallah Hills would remain operative till upcoming monsoon rains to ensure effective monitoring to overcome the fire incidents.
The officials of the environment wing would further strengthen coordination with the local people to keep vigil over the activities of the miscreants who destroy the natural beauty of the Margallah Hills for some obvious reasons.
According to the mechanism put in place by the environment wing the control room informs the concerned officers or divisional forest officer in case of fire in the Margallah Hills and six fire-fighting vehicles and additional fire-fighters of the Emergency and Disaster Management Wing are supposed to show quick response and cope with the situation.
The fire tenders along with 50 officials of Emergency and Disaster Management Wing have also been deputed at Pir Sohawa who work in different shifts and assist the staff of the environment wing in case of forest fire outbreak.
CDA's director general (Environment) Sheikh Sulaiman said a hotline has already been established between the fire department and the environment wing of the civic authority to take timely action in case of any fire incident on the Margallah Hills.
He said if the men at any picket observe smoke or fire at any place of the mountain, they promptly inform the nearby picket through wireless, where from the fire fighters rush to the place and extinguish the fire.
