KARACHI: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Saturday unveiled the details of cash awards for the medal winners of second edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games which would be held at the Pakistan Sports Complex from May 5-9.
According to the Board, the gold medallists would be handed over Rs10,000 each, the silver medallists would get richer by Rs7000 each, while the bronze medallists would receive Rs5000 each.
In the event, around 2500 athletes from the four provinces would feature in 16 disciplines. Meanwhile on Saturday, a meeting in connection with the preparation of the Games was held at the PSB’s head-quarters in Islamabad with the Board’s Director General Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera in the chair.
The Board said that the objective of organising this mega sports event was to promote national integration, cohesion and expressed the hope that with the cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders, the organisers would be able to hold the event in a befitting manner.
Ganjera also briefed the representatives of the concerned national sports federation regarding proposed strength of the technical officials for their respective disciplines to be contested in the Games. After detailed discussion and deliberation, the strength of technical officials was finalised according to their requirements.
It was decided that the accommodation to the technical officials will be provided either in Pakistan Sports Complex or in any hotel.
“The respective federation should nominate a focal person and his name should be intimated to the PSB by April 24”, the Board said.
“The technical officials should report the PSB three days before the commencement of the Games. The technical officials should also participate in the march-past at the opening ceremony,” it said.
The Board further said that all the concerned national federations were required to discuss and decide their respective venues in consultation with the PSB’s Deputy Director General (facilities) at the earliest possible so that other arrangements could be made in time.
The tabulation committee has already been constituted and its office will be established at the Jinnah Sports Complex Islamabad.
All the technical officials of the respective federations would provide the results on priority basis to the said committee for recording and announcement.
