This refers to the article, ‘A different democracy’ (Apr 19), by Dr Atta-ur-Rahman. The writings of Quaid-e-Azam in support of the presidential system in Pakistan was only discovered by the dictator, Ziaul Haq. If the presidential system was so liked by the Quaid, why did he not implement it in Pakistan? The truth is that he always supported the parliamentary system for Pakistan.
India is a shining example of the most populous democracy of the world with low literacy rate since 1947. The US has high literacy rate but voting turnover is always low.
