‘Girls should benefit from equal opportunities of studies’
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said that girls have been provided with equal opportunities of studies in higher education institutions so they should benefit from the opportunities.
Addressing the second convocation of the four-year programme of Bachelor of Science (BS) of 2011-2015 session of the Government Postgraduate Islamia College for Women, Cooper Road, he said that with the provision of opportunities to girls, the potential of half of the population could be fully exploited for the collective wellbeing of society.
As many as 472 students were awarded degrees and gold medals were conferred on 20 students. Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Muhammad Nizamuddin, Public Instructions (Colleges) Punjab Director Chaudhry Jahangir Ahmad, Director (Colleges) Lahore Division Zafar Inayat Anjum and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
Raza Gillani said sufficient funds would be made available for improvement in public sector colleges in the next budget.Earlier, in her welcome address, Principal Prof Farzana Shaheen presented the performance report of the college.
