Bahawalpur crowned U13 inter-region tournament champions
KARACHI: Bahawalpur were crowned champions when they defeated Karachi by 20 runs in the final of the PCB Under-13 Catch ‘em’ Young Program 2017 Inter-Region tournament at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday.
Bahawalpur accumulated 155-5 in the allotted 20 overs with Mohammad Ammar scoring an unbeaten 72 off 42 deliveries. He smashed six fours and three sixes in his elegant knock.
Abdul Wahab chipped in with 52-ball 62, striking seven fours.
In response, Karachi Under-13 were restricted to 135-4 with Ali Hasan blasting 70. He struck five fours and two sixes in his fine knock. Hasan Iqbal belted 52 off 53 balls, striking six fours.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan distributed the prizes. The winners were handed over a trophy and a purse of Rs500,000 while the runners-up went away with Rs250,000. Mohammad Ammar of Bahawalpur was adjudged man-of-the-final as well as man-of-the-tournament for his fine batting performance.
