ISLAMABAD: The government is seriously considering removing Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Chairman Saeed Ahmad Khan for not keeping surveillance on the petrol stocks of oil marketing companies (OMCs), reliable sources said.
A two-member committee headed by Adviser to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Zahid Muzzafar on Tuesday held Ogra responsible for the petrol crisis in its preliminary report submitted to the prime minister.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Human Rights has been directed to prepare a reference against the chief of regulator.Under the Ogra Ordinance, the reference will be sent to the Federal Public Services Commission. However, the spokesman of the ministry, who is also acting secretary of the ministry, is tight-lipped over the development.
