Clerics must avoid making Friday sermon political talk show: Saudi Grand Mufti

RIYADH: While stressing the need to make the Friday sermons more comprehensive and precise, Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh has said that clerics must avoid making the Friday sermon a political talk show. He further added that the Friday sermon must be non-political and comprehensive, adding that irrelevant speeches disturb worshippers.
According to the Saudi media, Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah Al ash-Sheikh said that the speakers should focus on issues pertaining to public and social interest. He further advised to keep the Friday sermons more comprehensive and precise and to avoid making the sermon a political talk show.
