THE newly-appointed President of Pakistan People’s Party Southern Punjab Chapter Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood has vowed to restore PPP’s lost strength in southern belt of the province.
‘PPP will make a clean sweep in next general elections from Southern Punjab’ said Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood, also a former Governor of Punjab, who has recently been appointed as PPP South Punjab President, while addressing a news conference Tuesday. Central PPP leader Senator Jehangir Badr, PPP South Punjab office-bearers, including Shaukat Mehmood Basra, Abdul Qadir Shaheen, Haider Zaman Qureshi and former MNA Mian Abdul Sattar, PPP Lahore leader Zahid Zulfiqar Khan were also present on the occasion.
Ahmed Mehmood has replaced Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din who held this office since 2012.
‘It is really a matter of immense pride for me to be the member of a party which has left behind a legacy of political struggle, I will go every nook and corner of Southern Punjab to strengthen PPP and bring it back to the position which it has enjoyed in past’ Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood said.
To a question, he said party would be organised at union council level and provincial executive body would be set up which would meet after every three months to assess the working of organisation.
He made it clear that he wouldn’t change the existing organisation of PPP Southern Punjab and would seek guidance from the former organisation head Makhdoom Shahab-ud-Din. He said PPP was a party of martyrs and its workers had always shown great commitment to it.
