On the instructions of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, four public schools of the province have been named after martyred students of the Army Public School, Peshawar. The martyred students belonged to various cities of Punjab. Public schools running under the supervision of DCOs and Commissioners in various districts of the province have been named after the Peshawar martyrs. The schools named after martyrs include DPS Khushab, DPS Gujranwala and DPS Sialkot and Public School Nankana Sahib.
Green Road: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Khadim-e-Punjab Green Roads Programme has been launched for the rehabilitation of roads in the rural areas of the province. An amount of Rs15 billion has been allocated for this programme during current financial year.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting held regarding Khadim-e-Punjab Green Roads Programme, through a video link, at Civil Secretariat here, Tuesday. The meeting reviewed progress on Khadim-e-Punjab Green Roads Programme. The chief minister said roads in rural areas would be rehabilitated under Khadim-e-Punjab Green Roads Programme which would result in development of rural economy. He said the programme would result in generation of new job opportunities while speedy facilities of communication would be available to the people.
Health reforms: Shahbaz Sharif has said that provision of modern health facilities to the masses is the government priority and quality health service will be ensured to the citizens through introducing revolutionary reforms in health sector.
He said billions of rupees were being spent on the provision of treatment facilities to the patients and reforms programme in health sector would be closely monitored and he would personally review this process on regular basis. Addressing a meeting of provincial steering committee on reforms in health sector through video link at Civil Secretariat, here Tuesday, the chief minister said maximum resources were being utilised on the uplift of the health sector and provision of modern treatment facilities to the masses. He said there was a need to work for improving medical facilities in tehsil and district headquarters hospitals.
LNG: Shahbaz Sharif has said that government has decided to set up an LNG Power Park in the province which will produce 1,000 megawatts electricity. He said the project would be completed speedily and transparently. Presiding over a high-level meeting here Tuesday, which reviewed the project of production of 1,000 megawatts electricity from LNG and Taunsa Hydropower Project, the chief minister said resolving the energy crisis was the priority of the government and all-out resources were being spent for this purpose.

He said every Pakistani was still grieved at the martyrdom of innocent children in Peshawar. Talking to elected representatives who called on him here on Tuesday, the chief minister said eradication of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism from the country was the need of the hour and army was writing a new history of courage and sacrifices in the war on terror.
