Train accident report submitted to minister

LAHORE: Initial report of investigation into accident between a train and an oil tanker, occurred a couple of days back, has been submitted to Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique. 

According to the initial probe, the gateman wasted a lot of time in informing the officials concerned due to which Night Coach couldn’t be stopped in time and the accident took place due to which three precious human lives were lost.

“When the driver was informed about the oil tanker, which had stopped at the track due to a disorder, the train had crossed the signal point.

The driver tried to stop the train but couldn’t”, the minister was informed here Friday.  On the occasion, Kh Saad Rafique said he was very grieved over the accident and vowed to do needful to avoid such incident in future.He said his team was trying hard to put the railway on the track. He said we will fulfill the promises we had committed during the election 2013. 

According to a press release, chairing a separate meeting here at Railways Headquarters on Friday, the minister said historical buildings of Pakistan Railways registered in federal as well as provincial lists must be protected at all costs.

He ordered the officials concerned to make arrangements for the beautification of all the historical buildings of railways. On the occasion, the minister was also informed about various development projects under construction, including new railway stations across the country.
