Peshawar Press Club honours recipient of civil award
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Press Club hosted a ceremony here Wednesday in honour of senior journalist Ismail Khan for winning the President’s Pride of Performance award.
The club’s president Alamgir Khan and general secretary Shahabuddin said they wanted to establish and promote good traditions and honouring those excelling in journalism would henceforth become a regular feature.
A sizeable number of journalists attended the event held at the Zubair Mir Hall of the Peshawar Press Club. Ismail Khan, who is resident editor of daily Dawn in Peshawar, was presented a traditional turban on the occasion.
Senior journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai said Ismail Khan richly deserved the award as he had worked hard to attain recognition and respect in journalism.
“Ismail Khan always took the initiative as a budding reporter to do stories. And even now when he has become the resident editor he continues to write stories,” he added. Journalist Intikhab Amir also spoke on the occasion.
