NA bodies to probe Haqqani’s visa issuance
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s Foreign and Interior committees on Monday took notice of the issuance of visa to Americans by former ambassador Husain Haqqani. The National Assembly’s Foreign and Interior committees took notice of issue on the directions of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The committees will start investigation into the matter from April 4.
The Foreign Affairs Committee will be headed by Chairman Awais Leghari. The demand for a multi-party parliamentary commission came from the defence minister during a discussion in the National Assembly over an article by Pakistan’s former ambassador to US in the Washington Post in which he claimed that he had facilitated the stationing of US Special Operations and intelligence personnel on the ground in Pakistan with the approval of the civilian leadership.
