Two arrested as cops foil kidnapping attempt
The Gulistan-e-Jauhar police rescued a boy who was being taken away by two men in a rickshaw late on Monday night.
The police said Imran Adil, a rickshaw driver, and his associate, Mohammed Hanif, were arrested after a patrolling mobile intercepted their rickshaw in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block 11.
As per a medical report, the alleged kidnappers were drunk when they were trying to kidnap the boy, Shabbir, who had come to visit his maternal uncle near NIPA Chowrangi.
Shabbir, a resident of the Light House area in Saddar, told the police that the two men tried to abduct him when he was going back to his home after meeting his uncle.
As soon as a police team noticed the boy shouting out for help, the rickshaw was intercepted and the two accused were arrested.
The police said the rickshaw driver, Imran Adil, was on bail as he had been arrested by the Malir Cantt police in an arms case.
