Punjab health personnel to be trained in Turkey

LAHORE: With a view to enhancing technical expertise and capacity building of health personnel of Punjab, a training programme regarding Emergency Health Services and Disaster Management is being conducted for second batch in the city of Izmir, Turkey.

“This training programme will start from April 9,” Najam Ahmed Shah, Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education (SHC&ME) said while giving details regarding the collaboration between Ministry of Health Turkey and Punjab Health Department, according to a handout on Monday.

In this connection, Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique along with five-member delegation will also visit Turkey next week to attend the opening ceremony of the Expo Medical Eurasia Fair.

The minister will also visit to Yozgat City Hospital along with his delegation.Najam Ahmed Shah said presently 13 field coordinators are visiting Turkey for getting practical and theoretical training in the field of Coordination System in terms of health issues in Konya, Bahkesir and Izmir provinces.

They will also attend provincial evaluation meetings held with the participation of Prof Dr Recep Akdag in the said provinces. The training programmes in different disciplines for nurses from Punjab are also being conducted in Ankara, Turkey.

The second batch of 20 nurses is being departed shortly for training. Moreover, a delegation of entomologists would also visit Turkey next week for benefiting from the knowledge and expertise of Turkish experts in the field of vector born diseases.

Najam Ahmed Shah said that by observing Pak-Turk joint health week in connection with the celebrations of Pakistan Day, more than 400 local physicians and surgeons had an opportunity for hand on training.
