The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and Foundation for Advancement of Medical Science (FAMS) have signed a 'record note' to provide scholarships to deserving and bright students of the OPF educational institutions to continue their studies in public sector medical colleges.
OPF Managing Director Habibur Rehman Gilani and FAMS Founder Chairman Dr. Aamir Ayub signed the note at the OPF head office. The FAMAS is a welfare organisation led by British Pakistani Dr. Umer Ayub working for welfare of medical students.
The OPF managing director thanked Dr. Aamir Ayub for the initiative and said the government and OPF Board of Governors agreed that overseas Pakistanis were the real assets of Pakistan. He said the OPF was not only working for the welfare of Pakistani expatriates but was also taking steps to welcome welfare organisations of overseas Pakistanis to work in the country.
Dr. Aamir Ayub said eleven years ago, with collaboration of some British Pakistani doctors, he had established the FAMS with the aim to provide assistance to deserving and intelligent Pakistani students of medical science. He said with the help of the FAMS, presently bright and deserving students are getting medical education in fourteen medical colleges of Pakistan.
