Sami scores 72 as SBP post 284

KARACHI: Test opener Sami Aslam, Abid Ali and Nasir Nawaz struck fine fifties to enable State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to post 284 all out against Candyland in their first innings on the opening day of their fourth round Group A outing of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II here at NBP Sports Complex on Friday.

The left-handed Sami struck 72 off 102 balls, striking seven fours and one six.

Abid, a promising batsman, made 59 with six fours and one six. Nasir scored a sedate 54 off 99 balls, featuring five fours and one six. Ashiq Ali got 5-93.

Ata-ur-Rehman and Mohammad Bilal got two wickets each.

In response, Candyland were reeling at 42-3 at stumps.

In another Group A show, here at UBL Sports Complex, Haideri Traders scored 279 all out in their first innings against Pak Saudi thanks to Mohammad Ismail’s superb 120, which came off 171 balls and had 18 fours.

Asher Qureshi got 3-50, while Mohammad Akhtar and Mohammad Imran captured two wickets each. Pak Saudi, in response, were 47-1, at stumps.

Here at State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Ground, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) scored 280-5 in their first innings against Karachi Port Trust (KPT). Haris Ali Khan scored spectacular 96 off 195 balls and hit seven fours and one six. Yasir Mushtaq belted 87 off 179 balls, striking seven fours. Sheraz Ali remained not out on 51. Mohammad Yaqoob and Rashid Hanif got two wickets each.

KPT, in response, were 24 without loss.

In a Group B outing, at Pindi Stadium, POL were bowled out for 272 by Army in their first innings with Wajid Ali Senior making 122 off 209 balls. He hit eight fours and six sixes in his fine knock. Waqar Ali made 70 off 85 balls, striking 11 fours and one six. Awais Zafar captured 3-45, while Khadim Jan claimed 2-54.

Army, in response, were 31-1 at stumps.

At Marghzar Ground, Islamabad, Customs were folded by Capital Development Authority (CDA) for a paltry first innings total of 158.

Faisal Iqbal grabbed 3-33, while Sadiq Khan and Zain-ul-Abdeen claimed two wickets each.

In response, CDA reached 129-2 with Ubaid Bangash batting on 70.

At Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad, ZTBL were dimsissed by IMEX for 243. Aaqib Khan (56*), stumper Shakeel Ansar (53) and Waqas Saleem (50) blasted fine fifties. Farhan Shafiq was the main destroyer with impressive figures of 5-57.

IMEX were 27 without a loss at close, in response.

At Sports Stadium, Sargodha, PTV posted 394-8 in their first innings against Humak Engineering with Hasan Raza scoring 105 off 178 balls, hitting seven fours.

Hasan Mohsin belted 60 not out off just 32 balls, hitting seven fours and one six.

Nihal Mansoor made 59 and Mohammad Irfan scored 52.

Nadeem Sikandar (4-119) and Hafeez-ur-Rehman (3-119) bowled well. Humak Engineering were three for one at stumps.

At Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala, Ali Imran struck 59 to enable Rahat and Shuja Impex to post 194 in their first innings against Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Raja Faraz got 5-36.

HEC, in response, were 176-2, at close.

At Rana Naved Cricket Academy Ground in Sheikhupura, Income Tax were folded for 109 by Port Qasim Authority (PQA) with Rehmatullah scoring 47. Ali Daud and Test-discard Mohammad Talha got four wickets each.

PQA, in reply, were 245-5, for a lead of 136 with 30 overs of their innings remaining.

Daniyal Ahsan was batting on 66. SM Tahami made 54. Mohammad Rshid got 3-47.

At LCCA Ground, Lahore, after dismissing K-Electric for 148, Omar Associates were in a strong position as they reached 150-2 in their first innings at close with Mohtashim Ali batting on 95.

At Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, NADRA were bowled out for 263 in their first innings by Ghani Glass.

In response, Ghani Glass were 151-4 at stumps with Rizwan Hussain scoring 87.

At Railways Stadium, Lahore, Brighto Paints were folded for 261 by Railways with Hasan Mehmood scoring 78 and Hasan Sardar making 70.

Railways, in response, were 28 without loss, at close.
