BARA: The political administration on Wednesday distributed compensation cheques among the militancy-affected tribespeople belonging to the Maidan area in Tirah valley of Khyber Agency.
Around 500 militancy-affected tribespeople belonging to Malikdinkhel and Zakhakhel tribes received compensation cheques at Levies centre in Shahkas.Political Agent Khyber Agency Khalid Mahmood and Senator Momin Khan Afridi distributed the cheques among the affected persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Political Agent Khalid Mahmood said that the compensation cheques distributed among 500 affected tribesmen belonging to Malikdinkhel and Zakhakhel tribes, whose houses were damaged during the militancy in Tirah valley. “At least 1660 compensation cheques worth Rs546.1 million have been distributed among the affected tribalpeople of the Tirah and Bara areas so far,” he said.
He said the half of the affected people, whose houses were partially and fully damaged in the decade-long militancy, had been given the cheques.The political agent added the other compensation cheques would be handed over to the suffered families belonging to the Tirah and Bara areas within three months. He thanked Pak Army, political administration, peace bodies and elders for conducting a transparent damage assessment survey in Maidan and Bara areas.
